Challenge Coins Plus recently received a customer’s request for a challenge coin that would take the place of his business cards. Rick Gibson is a lawyer who represents and advocates for U.S. soldiers once they return home from war. With challenge coins originating and having continued popularity within the military, it is fitting that he be able to present his contact information on a customized coin.

Thinking Outside of the Box

Gibson wanted the detailed information, which is found on a business card, on one side of the challenge coin. The front of this double sided gold coin clearly states Gibson’s full name, title, phone number and website address. The words along its edge help the soldiers easily identify what legal services Gibson offers.

He also wanted a symbol of American freedom on the back. What better symbol than the bald eagle with the flag behind it? We chose to use an actual photograph, which is our offset printing option, rather than a graphic drawing because we knew Gibson wanted the coin to make a realistic and bold statement.

Whether Gibson is in a military environment or running errands, one thing is for certain. He will make a huge personal statement and leave a lasting impression each and every time he places this beautiful, solid metal custom coin in prospective clients’ hands.

Leaving a Lasting and Positive Impression

This is just another way, our customer, as could other business owners, differentiates himself from others in his field. Though the concept of using challenge coins instead of business cards may be new to many companies, it comes as no surprise to Challenge Coins Plus.  In fact, we encourage it.

As an industry leader we know that a business’ success often stems from innovation and its ability to think outside of the box. We gladly fulfilled Mr. Gibson’s request for business card challenge coins and the end result was the customized coin you see above. We have no doubt that he will be even more successful in his pursuits on the account of his new way of connecting with clients. Now it’s your turn.

Call us today at 1-800-252-0904 to request custom coins that will uniquely and impressively replace your traditional business cards.  If you email us at with your design ideas and company logo, we will furnish you with a free digital proof and price quote.

With spring’s arrival come the much anticipated activities of Girl Scouts Across America. The Girls Scouts is one of many organizations that Embroidered Patches Plus respects and appreciates because of its commitment to developing and empowering our youth. Girl scout activities, whether they are participation in educational programs or camp-outs, means one important thing.  It is time for custom embroidered patches.

Building the Future One Girl at a Time

As a premier embroidered patch maker, we strive to do our part in helping our future leaders cultivate the skills they will need for tomorrow. When we are asked, “Can you can create a custom embroidered patch using a design sketched by a girl scout?” we are always genuinely happy to answer, “Yes, we can!”

As a matter of fact we get excited when we receive requests that include a hand drawn design from one of the girls.  Usually, a troop will have several designs created by the scouts. The troop then takes a vote, known as the patch contest, and the winning design is selected. This design eventually becomes yet another Girl Scout patch that we have the pleasure of creating.

This Year’s Patch Contest Winner

As you can see in the images above, the sketch submitted by one scout is now the troop’s iconic patch.  Filled with the brightness, excitement, and fun of childhood, this patch truly says a lot about the troop as well as the scout that designed it. This just goes to show how far children’s talents will take them with the right amount of encouragement and support.  Embroidered Patches Plus is happy knowing that we have nurtured this scout’s dream of maybe one day becoming an artist or graphic designer.

To successfully use a scout’s hand drawn design, there are a couple of steps the troop leaders must take:

1.    Scan the hand drawn design into your computer system

2.    Contact us with your custom embroidered patch request by emailing or calling 1-866-511-0381.

3.    Email us the scanned patch design

4.    Sit back, relax and let us take care of the rest

By following these simple steps, winners of a Girl Scout patch contest can easily and proudly get to see their winning artwork as a finished and wearable part of their Girl Scout experience.

Feel free to visit our Patch Information page at for more information about embroidery percentage, patch size, border styles and backing.

Shriners International is a fraternity of about 340,000 members and 193 chapters within the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and the Republic of Panama.  The organization is grounded in Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth.

Supporting the Cause in Several Ways

The brotherhood supports Shriners Hospitals for Children, a health care system of 22 hospitals committed to improving children’s lives through specialized pediatric care, extensive research and quality teaching programs for health professionals.  In order to provide children with the wide number of medical services it has available, Shriners International engages in several events and activities in which custom lapel pins serve many different functions.

Conferences, Meetings and Ceremonies

The lapel pin shown here was created for the Shriners’ annual conference at which five different Shriners’ temples in Tennessee will be meeting to discuss the year’s events calendar.  Custom pins are perfect for events such as this because they help guests remember the conference message as well as the fun time spent with others.  Pins can be very detailed to provide attendees with a visual reminder. Their light weight and small size make them easy to travel to and from the event.

Some Shriners International chapters have used their organization pins to give away at local events.  This is an excellent way to not only promote the organization but to also educate others about the organization and what it does.  With recipients being able to wear lapel pins, they will always have an accessible and useful way of remembering the organization.

Fraternal orders like the Shriners and Masons are known for possessing an element of secrecy.  This secrecy drives the need to hold private meetings.  Members at these meeting proudly wear unique member pins which add to the overall sense of pride and exclusivity of being in the brotherhood.

Marking the achievement of milestones within the organization is yet another good reason for which the Shriners have used their group pins.  Often times one can see these award lapel pins on the members’ clothing, uniforms or the fraternity’s well known fez hat.

No list of customized lapel pin uses is complete without mentioning that they make great fundraising items.  The Shriners, as have many other organizations, have also sold the pins to raise money to support their foundations.  As fundraiser pins, lapel pins offer the organization extreme flexibility and unlimited creativity of design.  The more creative and unique the lapel pin, the better it sells which is great for padding the organizations available funding.

For more information about how Lapel Pins Plus can help your organization reach its marketing, outreach, member participation and fundraising goals using custom pins, give us a call at 1-800-252-0904 or send us an email at

A lenticular lens is an array of magnifying lenses that are designed in a way that when viewed from slightly different angles, images appear to change or move.  The United States Air Force contacted us because they wanted to create a challenge coin that featured two different airplanes along with two different Air Force emblems so that when you hold the coin in one direction, you see one set of images.  When you tilt the coin at another angle, you see two different images.  The item that we were able to come up with is extremely unique and memorable.  It will be talked about by all who receive it.

In addition to being lenticular, we were also able to create a custom 3D edge for the challenge coin.  Our design team listened to the Air Force’s ideas and was able to further customize their product with an offset printed insert on the back of the coin that has three Air Force planes along with the Air Force logo.  This is one of the many ways that we provide excellent service to our customers.  We listen to their ideas and create custom artwork for them free of charge.

Why Choose Custom Challenge Coins?

The beginning of spring brings about many things that most look forward to with excitement.  The warm and sunny climate change that follows a cold and bitter winter is just a start. Flowers bloom and birds sing as individuals and groups come out of hiding for outdoor activities. Speaking of activities, the beloved springtime also brings in demands for custom martial arts patches.

An East Meets West Custom Design

Dojos, martial arts academies, schools and instructors are starting this spring season with custom patches.  Embroidered Patches Plus has been receiving a lot of requests from senseis who want patches for their students.

The patches are handed out after particular training requirements have been met. Once awarded, the patches are then sewn onto the students’ gis (training uniforms) or their training gear bags. Students can also bring their patches to tournaments and trade them with other teams, much like lapel pin trading in little league.

Customized patches for martial arts often times follow a standard design format. Traditionally they are round with the name of the dojo and its logo incorporated in the patch design. More often than not, the specific martial arts discipline, like jiu jitsu, karate, or tae kwon do, is also showcased in the patch.

Designing Patches Your Way

Patches can, however, be made in any shape, size and can use any design elements that you desire. Not only that, but they can also vary in coverage as well.  For example, the patch shown above is 100% coverage, but, for patches with less detail, 75% works well and is a  more cost efficient option.

You don’t have to be in a martial arts school to take advantage of your custom patch design options. Any school, group or organization can benefit from the versatility and fun of patches from Embroidered Patches Plus. Our Patch Pricing page will tell you everything you need to know about ordering them.  Visit it at

After viewing the page, should you have inquiries, want to place an order, or simply share your ideas, contact us at or call 1-866-511-0381.  We look forward to helping you start the spring season off right!

Lately, we have been getting a lot of interest from quilting groups.  These circles of ladies have a common interest in sewing that brings them together so they mingle with one another while they start on or finish their craft projects.  Each member shares tips and secrets with one another in regards to the different sewing disciplines. This time tested ritual has brought a lot of joy into women’s lives for centuries.  In fact, quilting is thought to have originated in ancient Egypt.

Uses for Quilting Lapel Pins

Custom lapel pins honoring these groups of talented ladies are created for a number of reasons.  First of all, they can be used to help members reflect upon the city, state or region that the guild is from.  Second, they can be created for the annual trips the groups take.  Small souvenirs are rich in sentimental value.  They serve as personal keepsakes that can be worn wherever they may go.

Last but not least, they can be created in a way to establish officer identity.  We can create a main pin using your design and then add the title of President or Treasurer to make it even more special for the board members.  This helps new members know who to approach for questions and advice.

How to Order From Us

Including information about your group’s destination on the pin is easy.  Simply provide us with the details our your event and we will include it in your design.  You can also choose whatever size, shapes, and colors best reflect your group’s interests and mission.  This gives you the freedom to let your imagination run wild.

Imagine all the possibilities available to you when you create your own quilting lapel pins.  Say you want your pins to be square.  Consider it done.  Say that you want them to be cloisonne.  We’ve got you covered.  Say that you want to use a photo of a real quilt.  Send it to us via email and we’ll create an off set printed lapel pin for you.  Whatever your vision is for your quilting lapel pins, share it with us and we’ll make it happen.

Visit our website at today and find out how you can celebrate National Craft Month by ordering your very own quilting guild lapel pins today.  You can also call 1-800-252-0904 toll-free or email for more information.

Sherwin Williams is one of the largest international paint manufacturers in the United States.  Since its establishment in 1866 by Henry Sherwin and Edward Williams, the company has grown from holding its initial resealable ready-to-use paint patent, acquired in 1877, to holding over 500 paint and coating patents.

It is only natural to wonder how a company as seasoned as Sherwin Williams has continued to thrive in today’s economy.  Well, when the paint industry leader contacted us to fulfill its custom challenge coin need, we found out the secret to its 145 years of success.

Dedication Comes From Inside Out

Committed and motivated employees are the backbone of any and every successful business, especially those who work for Sherwin Williams.  To keep its workers’ motivated and morale high, the company had Challenge Coins Plus create a company coin that would remind employees of the organization’s mission.

Though, the Sherwin Williams 2011 campaign coin has a very simple challenge coin design, it makes a big impact. It is a circular double sided coin which is the popular choice among many major organizations and businesses.  On one side, the Sherwin Williams official logo and company name is featured in bright red and blue colors against a white background.  On the reverse side, the words “I Believe…2011” are boldly displayed in all red contrasting a rich blue back drop.

With the purpose of this personalized coin being to encourage high esprit de corps, employees can keep coins with them at all times either in their pockets or on their desks.  It is challenge coins’ small size that makes them perfect for this purpose as well as organizational functions.

Coins Add Value to Awarding Experiences

Recognition, award, and years-of-service ceremonies are other business situations, for which customized challenge coins are perfectly suited.  Managers can easily include employees’ photographs and accomplishments in the challenge coin design for individual recognition.  Awarding larger more generalized groups is as simple as identifying the locale, district or region on one side and using the company’s logo on the other.

It’s not too late to have Challenge Coins Plus help you develop your employees and grow your business. Like Sherwin Williams, we recognize the importance of keeping the company’s vision in worker’s hearts and minds.  That is why we are more than happy to assist businesses with taking their employees to the next level.

With there being a large number of non-profits located in Central Florida, New Directions Community Outreach, Inc. (NDCO) recently enlisted our help to make its organization more visible. The small Seminole County centered charity not only needed a way to identify NDCO volunteers at events, but was also in desperate need of an official logo that would emphasize its passion for and commitment to serving the community.

Strengthening The Fight Against Homelessness

NDCO was founded in 2004, as a feeding program for homeless individuals and families in Seminole County.  Since then, despite many adversities, the organization has grown to one that offers a multitude of programs, resources, tools and activities to help those in need become self-sufficient.  NDCO’s mission is to reduce and prevent the growing rate of homelessness in Central Florida by continuing to expand the availability of housing, outreach, awareness and educational programs, something that is possible only by its own continued growth.

Just like NDCO, Lapel Pins Plus is dedicated to doing whatever we can to serve the community, especially when we are given an opportunity to help charitable organizations grow.  In this case, that meant creating a custom lapel pin with a logo that captured NDCO’s caring and giving purpose.

They Could Not Have Dreamed of a Better Design

The charity’s soft enamel lapel pin speaks volumes about the principles upon which NDCO was founded. Its custom shape and high polished gold plating makes the heart shaped “helping” hands easy to see against the burgundy background.  The organizations initials are boldly set above its full name.  Its “No Dream Is Impossible” motto can be read in a healing blue tone while a reference to the county its serves is made along the bottom edge.

What we took the most pleasure in, besides generating the organizations official logo, is the fact that the charity’s lapel pin can be used in more than one way.  As logo lapel pins, they give the organization a visual identity.  As volunteer pins, they give the staff and members a uniform as well as a conversation piece.  By selling the heart lapel pins, NDCO could also raise money while encouraging others to show their support.

Custom pins can be designed to support all areas of an organizations growth and outreach efforts. For NDCO, and organizations like it, having a visual identity is the key to establishing a strong presence in society. Organizational growth is what allows non-profits to continue serving their communities and fighting for the cause.

Most often, our customers order traditional custom lanyards.  By traditional, we mean lanyards that come full circle with only one attachment on the end.   However, there is another type of lanyard that is somewhat different but still very effective. We call them open ended lanyards.

What Makes Open Ended Lanyards Different?

Opened ended lanyards are sewn in a straight line rather than a complete loop. They have two ends, each with its own attachment.  Though it may be hard to imagine, these lanyards have proven themselves to be as unique as they are versatile.

These multifaceted custom products have standardized a method of keeping necessary items, like I.D. cards and keys easily accessible. Often used at large conventions and trade shows, they are an ideal way to attach badges and press passes, especially when combined with our PVC badge holders.

Which Style is Best For Use with This Option?

Any one of our customizable lanyard styles can be made to be open ended. Our lanyard style options consist of:

1.    Polyester Imprinted Lanyards. Our most popular of the imprinted lanyards are made from high quality and durable polyester material. This style gives your lanyard a professional and polished appearance.

2.    Woven Polyester Lanyards. Manufactured from quality polyester as well, these have a textured feel that is complimented by stitching your text or logo into them.

3.    Custom Tube Lanyards. These tube-formed polyester lanyards are one of our more cost-efficient options.  Your custom design is imprinted on this type also.

4.    Imprinted Nylon Lanyards. If you want to capture as much design detail as possible, nylon lanyards is the perfect choice for you. These imprinted lanyards have a sheen to them and are the ideal option for logos and images with intricate details.

Changing your traditional lanyard to an open ended lanyard does not present any design limitations.  The only difference would be the price of the additional attachment. With having a second attachment, a small cost increase is incurred.

To learn more about our attachment options, please visit our Attachments Page at . Or, visit our gallery to see other lanyards we have produced.

At Challenge Coins Plus, we take tremendous pride in producing high quality and unique challenge coins for our customers.  With respect to this, we have noticed a trend when it comes to the use of presentation options. At times the options are disregarded because most challenge coins can be carried around, but what should you do with the coins when you are not carrying them or while you are waiting for the big presentation day? To answer this question, we are taking some time to highlight two of our most popular presentation choices, the velvet box and the plastic coin capsule.

First Impressions Are Lasting Ones

Our velvet boxes are perfect for displaying your most cherished challenge coins.  They are an ideal option for presentation ceremonies and award banquets. What makes them special is that we can cut the inside padding of the box to fit any and all challenge coin shapes. This means that when your coin is resting in its case, the coin is protected by the padding because it is sitting in the recessed area.

The acrylic coin capsule is a clear plastic case that is perfect for protecting your precious coin from every day dust and dirt while keeping is visible.  Our customers who have taken advantage of these quality cases’ practicality love the fact that they can show off their challenge coins without exposing them to any potential harm.

Worry and Damage Free Shipping

Another added benefit of using either one of the mentioned options is that they are great for shipping.  With the velvet boxes customized inner padding and secure case, recipients will not only receive their coin unharmed, but also get them in a way that demands appreciation.  The same applies to the coin capsule except those who receive a coin in this way will not have to wait a second longer or have to open the box to adore their latest treasure.

So, the next time you order customized challenge coins, take the time to explore Challenge Coin Plus’ presentation options as well.  The velvet box is made to fit coins perfectly.  The acrylic capsule protects coins while showcasing them.  Whichever one you choose, you simply cannot go wrong.

Call us today to order your custom coins with their presentation packaging. We can be reached at 1-800-252-0904 or by emailing
