A recent trend that we are seeing with our trading pin customers is that they are requesting to have us make them 2
different pins to bring to their tournament.  One pin is a standard trading pin.  The other pin is a specialty trading pin.  Both pins are very similar in their size and appearance, but the specialty pin has more features that take it to the next level.

For example, teams are choosing to add a spinner, or a slider along with glitter and blinkies to the special pin, and deciding to stay fairly basic with the main pin.  What ends up happening at the tournaments is that the special pins are getting pulled out of the kids bags in the middle of the tournament.  The main pins are traded first and then, at the half way point, the big guns come out.  The special pins hit the scene and cause major, major buzz.  They become the “must have” pin of the tournament and teams are willing to trade just about anything to get the specialty pin.

Supply and demand is a big part of pin trading.  Because there are only a few of the special pins, they can demand top trading value.  Some players are willing to give up multiple pins to get one of the coveted pins.  This is what makes pin trading a big deal in the sports world.  Kids wait all season to be able to swap pins with other players, teams, and coaches.
