September is National Skin Care Awareness Month.  The annual initiative aims to raise awareness about skin cancer and the precautionary measures that can be taken to prevent the disease.  The Skin Cancer Foundation is providing free skin care screenings on its Road to Healthy Skin Tour.  A large bus is traveling all around the United States as a way to raise awareness and provide information to communities about proper skin care.

One Little Pin Can Educate Many

You can do your part to raise awareness by creating custom lapel pins in your choice of size, shape, style, and color to hand out throughout the month of September as a way of saving people’s lives.  Every action that you take to warn people of the dangers of too much sun exposure helps.  We offer soft enamel, cloisonne, offset printed, and die struck pins for you to choose from.

Some people opt to create awareness ribbon pins because the symbol is so widely recognized.  Let us know what shape you prefer.  We offer traditional shapes and specialty shapes.  We can cut the metal to mimic the shape of the image or photo included in your custom lapel pin design.

We can also add a variety of different add-ons to the artwork that we create for you.  We offer a wide range of them for you to choose from including glitter, silkscreens, cut outs, and simulated gemstones.  We also have a number of different presentation options designed to meet your needs.  Select a velvet case or acrylic case.  Custom cardstock might be something you want to look into as well.

Raise Awareness through the Creation and Distribution of Custom Lapel Pins

Create custom lapel pins for National Skin Care Awareness Month.  Help people learn how to take better care of their skin.  Give them a pin that serves as a reminder to put on sunscreen with a high enough SPF to prevent a sunburn.  Suggestions are helpful particularly if they’re on a lapel pin.  People can refer to them often and help spread the word about skin cancer and the different methods that can be taken to prevent it.

Submit your request to a Lapel Pins Plus representative right away.  Email your ideas to  If you’d rather speak to us directly, you can.  Call 1-800-252-0904 toll-free.  We’re here to answer your questions and offer suggestions on ways to make your pins stand out in a crowd.

A big sales extravaganza is a great way for businesses to move old product that isn’t selling fast enough so they can clear the floor and shelves to make room for new, more enticing product.  Businesses small and large use discounts as a way to build clientele, rid their inventory of dated merchandise, and to boost sales.  If your business is planning a big sales event, you’re going to want to advertise it.

One of the easiest ways that you can do just that is with custom lapel pins designed with your promotion clearly stated on them.  If you’re offering a certain percentage off specific goods and services or a dollar amount off, you can have your employees advertise the promotion for you by wearing pins on their lapels.  This is a great way to gear up for a sale in advance.

Select the Size, Shape, Style, and Colors of Pins That Meet Your Needs

Pins make the perfect marketing tool for a number of different reasons.  The first is that they are custom made.  That means you’re in control of the message behind them.  Next, custom pins can be handed out and worn easily.  Last but not least, they resemble a piece of jewelry and are therefore, considered a gift.  People enjoy being thought of and pins are perfect for employees and customers.

One of the biggest selling points of custom products is that you’re in charge of how the final product looks.  You get to determine the size, shape, style, and colors that best meet your needs.  Once those details have been communicated to our team of lapel pin designers, they’ll start creating custom artwork for you.  You’ll receive a file containing your lapel pin design in your inbox.  Approve it, pay for your order in full, and we’ll send it to our production department where it will be manufactured.

Ordering from Lapel Pins Plus is Really Easy

The VFW was founded shortly after the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection.  In 1899, the organization secured the rights and veterans of both battles for their service.  Back then, there was no medical care or pension for them.  Veterans were basically on their own to fend for themselves.

Some of the veterans formed together to create what is known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.  The chapters started in Ohio, Colorado, and Pennsylvania but quickly grew in number in just a few decades.  By 1936, membership included nearly 200,000 veterans.  Membership stands at nearly two million members today.

The VFW and its Auxiliaries Gives Back to Its Communities

The VFW has been a pillar in communities.  It is best known for its help in establishing the Veterans Administration, creating the GI Bill, developing a national cemetery system, and fighting for compensation for Vietnam vets.  These were men exposed to Agent Orange.  Gulf War Syndrome victims’ rights are also fought for by the VFW.

Committed to its communities, the VFW and its Auxiliaries contribute millions of hours of volunteerism each year and over $3 million in college scholarships and savings bonds to students annually.

Famous Presidents That Were Members of the VFW

Some of the most famous Presidents were members of the VFW.  The list includes:

  • Theodore Roosevelt
  • Harry S. Truman
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower
  • John F. Kennedy
  • Lyndon B. Johnson
  • Richard M. Nixon
  • Gerald R. Ford
  • George H.W. Bush

Vice Presidents Spiro T. Agnew and Albert Gore were also members.  The oldest VFW Post is VFW Post 1 in Denver, Colorado.

When is VFW Day?

September 29th is VFW Day.  The annual observance centers on the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the service they provided by defending our country.  Established in 1899 as well, VFW Day furthers the VFW’s desire “to honor the dead by helping the living”.  VFW Posts and Auxiliaries promote good will, patriotism, and youth scholarship.

Creating a Special Gift for Veterans of Foreign Wars

One of the noblest ways you can honor the veterans that served in foreign wars is to create a special gift that commends their service.  As a leading custom lapel pin company, we offer your choice of size, shape, style, and colors of pins as a way of serving our customers’ needs and giving them options on ways to personalize their unique gifts.  Choose from soft enamel, cloisonne, offset printed, and die struck pins.  We make each style available to you.
