Goodwill Industries consists of a network of 165 independent, community-based Goodwills in the United States and Canada.  They offer custom job training, employment placement, and other services to people with disabilities, lack education and job experience or are unemployed or underemployed.  They also have thrift stores located all around the country that offer low cost goods for people to purchase.

Years of service pins are given to employees based on the number of years they have been with the company.  These pins are a major source of pride for those that have been with a company for a long time and they are a way to encourage new employees to want to stay with the company for years to come.  As one walks down the hallway, everyone can see how many years they have been at that company by one quick glance at the lapel pin.

Some companies have employees wear the years of services pins on parts of their uniforms.  For example, these items can be worn on a hat, suspenders or on the lapel of their jacket.  The pin that Goodwill chose to create is a classic die struck gold pin.  The 1 inch size is very common for recognition pins like this.

Large companies choose years of service pins because they are an inexpensive way to increase productivity, morale, and most importantly loyalty.  Satisfied employees are more likely to stay with a company for longer periods of time.  This helps the bottom line because turnover can be very costly.

Years of service lapel pins can be given away at special events like awards ceremonies and banquets.  They can be placed in velvet boxes or acrylic cases and handed out to employees.  This adds a level of class to the event and also gives those being rewarded a safe way to keep and display their lapel pins.  Whenever you place an order for years of service pins, don’t forget to order one of our presentation options to go with them.

With there being a large number of non-profits located in Central Florida, New Directions Community Outreach, Inc. (NDCO) recently enlisted our help to make its organization more visible. The small Seminole County centered charity not only needed a way to identify NDCO volunteers at events, but was also in desperate need of an official logo that would emphasize its passion for and commitment to serving the community.

Strengthening The Fight Against Homelessness

NDCO was founded in 2004, as a feeding program for homeless individuals and families in Seminole County.  Since then, despite many adversities, the organization has grown to one that offers a multitude of programs, resources, tools and activities to help those in need become self-sufficient.  NDCO’s mission is to reduce and prevent the growing rate of homelessness in Central Florida by continuing to expand the availability of housing, outreach, awareness and educational programs, something that is possible only by its own continued growth.

Just like NDCO, Lapel Pins Plus is dedicated to doing whatever we can to serve the community, especially when we are given an opportunity to help charitable organizations grow.  In this case, that meant creating a custom lapel pin with a logo that captured NDCO’s caring and giving purpose.

They Could Not Have Dreamed of a Better Design

The charity’s soft enamel lapel pin speaks volumes about the principles upon which NDCO was founded. Its custom shape and high polished gold plating makes the heart shaped “helping” hands easy to see against the burgundy background.  The organizations initials are boldly set above its full name.  Its “No Dream Is Impossible” motto can be read in a healing blue tone while a reference to the county its serves is made along the bottom edge.

What we took the most pleasure in, besides generating the organizations official logo, is the fact that the charity’s lapel pin can be used in more than one way.  As logo lapel pins, they give the organization a visual identity.  As volunteer pins, they give the staff and members a uniform as well as a conversation piece.  By selling the heart lapel pins, NDCO could also raise money while encouraging others to show their support.

Custom pins can be designed to support all areas of an organizations growth and outreach efforts. For NDCO, and organizations like it, having a visual identity is the key to establishing a strong presence in society. Organizational growth is what allows non-profits to continue serving their communities and fighting for the cause.

To a large degree, motorcycle riding is still misperceived as a dangerous and risky pastime.  Considering the millions of bikers and enthusiasts that exist all over world, Lapel Pin Plus was excited to be able to provide custom biker pins for the one organization that is doing its part to change the negative perception that surrounds bike riding.

Biker Christmas Pins Went Along for the Ride

Abate of Florida, Inc. is the only Motorcycle Rights Organization (MRO) in Florida and consists of over 25 chapters throughout the state. The “biker rights” organization stresses that it is not a club, but a proactive part of society working hard toward promoting motorcycle safety, training, and awareness while helping the community.

Being a non-profit organization, Abate of Florida funds its community outreach projects through poker or toy runs, campouts, and many other motorcycle activities.  The most recent event in which Lapel Pins Plus was privileged to participate was the organization’s Gator Alley Chapter of Naples, Florida 24th annual ride to raise money for Heritage Healthcare.

In the spirit of the season and its fundraising efforts, the biker Christmas pin inspires a sense of excitement, holiday giving, and cheer at first sight. Using the same key text and logo that was in the event flyer, the Gator Alley Chapter’s lapel pin design ensured riders would be as decorated with the holiday spirit as their motorcycles were.

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent needed custom lapel pins created for their charitable organization.  They decided to split up their order by creating two different pins.  A few of the items were designed specifically for board members while the rest of the order was created for general members.  This made it easy to distinguish the two different groups of people.  The only really noticeable difference between the designs was that one had a small banner at the bottom that signified that the wearer of the lapel pin was a board member.

Lapel Pins Plus can do the same thing for your business or non-profit organization.  If you only need a select number of lapel pins for your board members, you can opt to create two different designs.  We charge a small mold fee for the second design but this allows you to order a few of one design and a larger number of another.  This option is ideal for smaller groups because it allows you to allocate your resources in a way where they will do the most good.  Rather than incur the expense of two larger lapel pin orders, you can get the exact number of each design that you need.

What Makes the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent Special?

Hunger is something that many families know too well.  The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent provides assistance to needy citizens in Victoria County, Texas with the things that they need most like bread, milk, and eggs.  It relies on generous donations from the public and the support of volunteers to be successful.  It elects board members to help with the decision making process.

Custom lapel pins help citizens identify these men and women easily at town hall meetings.  This allows them to direct their questions and suggestions to the proper authorities at these important events.  Families seeking aid also know who to come to with their requests.  Board members can explain the application process in greater length by scheduling a time to meet with the people in need.

How to Request Two Different Designs For One Order

There are some steps that you should take when requesting two different designs for one order.   They are:

1.    Contact Lapel Pins Plus by phone, email or via the website with a request for a free quote.  Make sure to emphasize the fact that you want a certain quantity of one pin and that you would like the rest of your order to represent the second design.

  1. Check your email for the quote and a full color proof containing both of your designs.  Look everything over and email us at info@lapelpinsplus.com with any changes you would like to see.
  2. Once you approve the artwork, we begin the manufacturing process.  Your custom lapel pins will arrive in a timely manner and the shipping is free of charge because we pay the costs of delivering them to you.

To reach us by phone, call 1-800-252-0904 or email info@lapelpinsplus.com with any questions you might have about ordering lapel pins for your business or charitable cause.  We will do everything we can to accommodate your request and create high quality, attractive lapel pins for your entire organization.
