The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been enriching the lives of children with life threatening illnesses since 1980.  The first wish was made by 7 year old Christopher J. Greicuis who dreamed of becoming a police officer. Chris was being treated for leukemia.  On April 29th, young Christopher, with the help of a family friend in the police department, was suited in an official uniform, sworn in, taken on a tour of his Sheriff’s department office, met the command staff, rode in a department helicopter and much more. On May 2nd, he was re-hospitalized and requested that his room be adorned with his police gear.  The following day, May 3rd, Chris passed away.

Committed to Making Wishes Come True

Since the fulfillment of that first wish, the organization has grown to the network of almost 25,000 volunteers that it is today. These selfless individuals are the backbone of the organization as they are the wish granters, fundraisers and special events assistants. To show its appreciation for their commitment, generosity and time, Make-A-Wish contracted Lapel Pins Plus to help design a custom lapel pin for those who give their time and make donations toward making a child’s wish come true.

A Classic and Timeless Token

The recognition pin is a classic die struck lapel pin with an antique gold finish. Instead of using a traditional round lapel pin, our designers suggested the organization take advantage of our cut-to-shape option. As you can see, the pin’s shape is made up of 3 overlapping stars. The antique finish gives this simple lapel pin design an edge that makes it stand out.

What will your organization do to gain support for its cause? With world wish day, April 29th, coming soon there is still time to have your customized organization lapel pins made and shipped.  The pin shown above is only one of many ways in which we can personalize your pins.  To see more of our work or get some ideas for designing your own pins, visit http://www.lapelpinsplus.com/lapel-pin-gallery/ and view our Lapel Pin Gallery.

Shriners International is a fraternity of about 340,000 members and 193 chapters within the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and the Republic of Panama.  The organization is grounded in Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth.

Supporting the Cause in Several Ways

The brotherhood supports Shriners Hospitals for Children, a health care system of 22 hospitals committed to improving children’s lives through specialized pediatric care, extensive research and quality teaching programs for health professionals.  In order to provide children with the wide number of medical services it has available, Shriners International engages in several events and activities in which custom lapel pins serve many different functions.

Conferences, Meetings and Ceremonies

The lapel pin shown here was created for the Shriners’ annual conference at which five different Shriners’ temples in Tennessee will be meeting to discuss the year’s events calendar.  Custom pins are perfect for events such as this because they help guests remember the conference message as well as the fun time spent with others.  Pins can be very detailed to provide attendees with a visual reminder. Their light weight and small size make them easy to travel to and from the event.

Some Shriners International chapters have used their organization pins to give away at local events.  This is an excellent way to not only promote the organization but to also educate others about the organization and what it does.  With recipients being able to wear lapel pins, they will always have an accessible and useful way of remembering the organization.

Fraternal orders like the Shriners and Masons are known for possessing an element of secrecy.  This secrecy drives the need to hold private meetings.  Members at these meeting proudly wear unique member pins which add to the overall sense of pride and exclusivity of being in the brotherhood.

Marking the achievement of milestones within the organization is yet another good reason for which the Shriners have used their group pins.  Often times one can see these award lapel pins on the members’ clothing, uniforms or the fraternity’s well known fez hat.

No list of customized lapel pin uses is complete without mentioning that they make great fundraising items.  The Shriners, as have many other organizations, have also sold the pins to raise money to support their foundations.  As fundraiser pins, lapel pins offer the organization extreme flexibility and unlimited creativity of design.  The more creative and unique the lapel pin, the better it sells which is great for padding the organizations available funding.

Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) located in Orlando, FL contacted us with an exciting idea for their new campaign. They wanted a way to encourage employees to contribute to the hospital and its various programs. ORMC’s mission was to reward team members that make monetary donations with a lapel pin that is shaped like a piggy bank.  The campaign’s motto, “Keep it at home, keep it in the piggy bank,” encourages employees to get involved with issues that relate to them.

The Power of a Good Campaign

By “keeping their donations at home,” team members are able to see their dollars hard at work in their neighborhoods and communities.  They improve their physical environment with their contributions by making ORMC a more positive place to work for and visit.  Participants in the program also serve as mentors to their peers.  By wearing their piggy bank shaped lapel pin to the hospital, they are attesting to the power of charitable giving.  This encourages the men and women who did not donate in the past to do so in the future.

Lapel Pins As a Motivational Tool

Custom lapel pins are great motivational tools.  Because they are viewed as a tangible reward, they tend to be perceived as being more valuable than other types of incentives.  Hospital employees can take pride in being a participant in the program and at the same make a statement to others that know little about the campaign.

Because they are customized, lapel pins can be created in a way that is most beneficial to our customers.  In addition to being able to choose the style, shape, color, and size of the products that you order from us, you also can decide what image or slogan best represents your mission or cause.

ORMC’s lapel pins were unique in shape and easy to spot in a crowd.  We helped them achieve this by suggesting that the pins be piggy bank shaped rather than round.  You can come up with your own ideas and submit them to us via our Free Quote form located on our website, through an email sent to info@lapelpinsplus.com or by calling 1-800-252-0904.

Anyone who has had a chance to meet the members of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club (IOMC) knows how serious these bikers are about their organization and what it stands for. It is only natural that this hardcore group of motorcycle enthusiasts would be just as serious about who they let take care of their motorcycle club’s pin needs.  The custom lapel pins we created for IOMC will serve them well as multifunctional club pins.

Biker Lapel Pin Refines the Idea of Multitasking

With over 30 chapters spanning across the United States, IOMC takes a tremendous amount of pride in its brotherhood. The diverse group of bike riders can wear member pins with their other biker club paraphernalia like vests, jackets, shirts and hats. The pins will add to the organization’s bold image and strong presence.

As an independent organization, generating support is vital to the club’s continued existence. Handing pins out to supporters to show gratitude for their donations is one way in which they double as fundraiser pins. Bikers can also sell the lapel pins to assist in raising money for group activities such as long distance motorcycle rides.

Since we are on the topic of bike riding, it is in any club’s best interest to also have pins on hand while on the road. As ride pins, bikers can give
spectators and fans a small token to remember them by. Combined with some key design features, this will also help them gain popularity and support.

Important Information Should Always Be Included

Using relevant organization information in the lapel pin design is another good way to gather and maintain followers. Customizing club pins to include a website or contact information is an easy and inexpensive way to collect donations and ensure supporters stay informed.

It is never too late to join the many groups and organizations that rely on Lapel Pins Plus to help them grow, promote and gain support using personalized lapel pins. Call us today at 1-800-252-0904 or send us an email at info@lapelpinsplus.com to find out how. We have the answers to all of your custom lapel pin questions.
